    A global technology company operating large-scale payment platforms is seeking a Principal Application Support Specialist in Tokyo. This role is central to ensuring the stability and scalability of mission-critical internal payment applications in a fast-growing FinTech environment.

    You will take ownership of complex production systems, resolve high-impact incidents, and collaborate closely with global engineering teams to continuously improve platform reliability and operational excellence.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Triage and resolve Tier-2 application issues, escalating complex cases to engineering squads
    • Investigate production incidents, identify root causes, and document permanent fixes
    • Partner with engineering teams to report bugs, gaps, and improvement opportunities
    • Maintain and enhance internal support documentation, processes, and operational workflows
    • Support application releases, configuration updates, and on-call production requirements

    Required Skills and Qualifications

    Experience:
    • 4+ years of experience in application support, production operations, or software maintenance
    • Strong understanding of modern web applications across backend and frontend environments
    • Hands-on experience with at least one of the following: Java, React, MySQL, databases, or messaging queues
    • Proven experience working with ticketing systems and structured incident categorization
    Soft Skills:
    • Clear and confident communicator across both technical and non-technical stakeholders
    • Strong analytical problem-solving ability, especially in live production environments
    • Calm and reliable mindset when handling high-priority incidents
    Language Requirements:
    • Japanese: Business-level proficiency required
    • English: Fluent communication required for global collaboration

    Preferred Skills & Qualifications

    • Experience supporting FinTech, banking, or payment platform systems
    • Familiarity with on-call rotations and real-time production support environments
    • Ability to mentor junior team members or lead small operational initiatives
